Hallo, Wie Geht’s?#

You have stumbled on the site of Tim.

I am a software developer from Edinburgh working for Ciena and an ex-student at St. Andrews university. This site is going to be “mishmash” of blogs. Blogs about trips I have been on, projects I am working on, or even attempting to write German.

Currently I am attempting to learn German (hence the current title). So the blogs may break into German sentences. For example: Am Samstag habe ich FUßball Gespielt.

What is this site for?#

As of the 20th April (2026), I am going on a cycling trip along the Eurovelo 15. Thus far, this is the itinerary:

  • Am Montag fahren wir mit der Überfuhr von Newcastle nach Amsterdam

Except for the ferry, we have not booked anything. I wanted to use this trip to start documenting what I am up to. I am terrible at taking photographs and keeping a diary. The aim of this is to be able to look back in the future and recollect on what I’ve been up to.

What’s to come?#

The answer to this is: I’m not sure. This is the third iterations of this site, the other two iterations are unpublished. It is my aim to divide this site into the categories: trip, language learning and projects. Trips will document places have been to, what I have done there and recommendations of what to do; language learning will be an attempt to speak in a different language; and projects will document personal projects I am working on.
